A message from Audrey: RSVP for the May 21 team celebration

Dear Stepping Strong marathon team,

I miss you so much and am definitely experiencing post marathon withdrawal! I came across this article about Desiree Linden’s marathon victory, and how working together can help you achieve your goals. I have to say it was our collective power that helped me “step strong” to cross that finish line on April 16. I can’t wait to hear your marathon survival stories and reflect on our amazing season at our team celebration on May 21. I hope you can make it!

And for those of you who can’t, thank you once again for all that you have done to support The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation at BWH. Please stay in touch!

A message from Audrey: Congratulations!

Dear Stepping Strong Team,

We are forever sealed together in an epic chapter of Boston Marathon history…near freezing conditions, pelting rain, sustained winds of 30 MPH, gusts over 45 MPH, puddles 3 inches deep…but we DID IT!

I am so proud of each and every one of you for persevering with grit and determination in grueling weather conditions. I know that “step strong” and “5 years strong” kept me going when my sneakers were soaked and the deluge kept on coming. At some point, it was almost comical. Steve and I stuck together and loved glimpses of our teammates along the way. I hope you could feel our collective power and it helped get you up heartbreak hill to that right on Hereford and left on Boylston.

I was replaying Meb’s tale of his journey down Boylston Street as we headed to the finish line. What an incredible journey it was. Of the eight marathons we have done, this one was the toughest and most arduous. So CONGRATULATIONS for your perseverance. You are all amazing. With this 26.2 done, you can do anything. There are not enough words to thank you for being a part of our 2018 Stepping Strong marathon team.

Missing you already…stay in touch. I hope we will see you at the team celebration on May 21st at Back Bay Social Club… and maybe we will see you again next year?!

Xo Audrey

Congratulations and thank you!

After months of excitement and nerves, long runs and hill runs, IT band stretching and foam rollers, we couldn’t be more excited to congratulate each one of you on completing the 122nd Boston Marathon!

Thanks to your efforts, our amazing team of 141 runners has raised more than $1,250,000 to advance trauma research and care at BWH—and the donations keep coming in! Photos from the weekend will be posted soon on the Stepping Strong Facebook page, so please tag yourself in the pictures, share with your friends, and make sure to ‘like’ the page. Use the hashtags #BWHSteppingStrong and #TogetherForward.

Congratulations again for your accomplishments, and thanks for all you have done to turn tragedy into hope for countless patients and families. Stay tuned for your invite to our team celebration on May 21!

From start to finish,

Caroline & Ali
