Vaccine Verification / COVID Testing

By now, all registered participants for the in-person 125th Boston Marathon should have received an email with instructions for scheduling a time to provide proof of vaccination OR scheduling a time for a COVID-19 test. Do NOT forget to schedule your vaccination verification / COVID test – this is mandatory for all runners. Bib pick-up will not be permitted without proof of a complete vaccination series or a negative COVID-19 test and the fastest path to pick up numbers for the 125th Boston Marathon is being fully vaccinated.

Participants who have completed a full series of a WHO-certified COVID-19 vaccination can schedule a time to visit the B.A.A. Vaccine Verification tent in Copley Square (corner of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets). An original paper copy, digital copy, photocopy, or photo of the participant’s vaccination proof is acceptable.

Participants who have not completed a full series of a WHO-certified vaccination can schedule a COVID-19 test in Copley Square (corner of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets). All participants who are tested for COVID-19 will be required to wait approximately 30 minutes for confirmation of their test results.

Important Reminder

In registering for the 125th Boston Marathon, all participants agreed to the B.A.A.’s participant waiver and adhering to COVID-19 guidelines. All participants must be prepared to isolate in accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ guidance and assume all associated fees, including medical expenses and fees associated with isolating and travel in the event of testing positive for COVID-19. All participants and spectators are strongly encouraged to get tested in advance of traveling to Boston and must have a plan for isolation in the event of a positive COVID-19 test.

A message from Audrey and Steven Reny: 50-day countdown + exciting announcement!

Dear Stepping Strong Marathon team,

We are officially 50 days away from the 125th Boston Marathon! You must be getting excited and feeling confident and determined as your training mileage continues to increase.

When we met at the first team meeting, Steven and I promised you that we would be there with you every step of the way through race day. We have loved getting to know you better during our small team gatherings and learning why being part of the Stepping Strong family is important to you. There are so many inspiring stories that brought you into our orbit. While we will not physically be running 26.2 miles with you from Hopkinton to Boston, we are so pleased to announce that our family will be making a $100,000 donation to the 2021 Stepping Strong Marathon Team in honor of you and all of your incredible efforts to support trauma research and care! We are so grateful to each of you, not only for your commitment to running the race, but also to fundraising on behalf of the Stepping Strong Center.

There is so much important and impactful work being done at the Stepping Strong Center, and it is our honor to provide additional funding that will continue to propel the programs forward. Recently the center welcomed three new fellows including the inaugural Stepping Strong Amputee Rehabilitation fellow. We look forward to sharing more details about our education initiatives at our virtual team meeting on Wednesday, August 25 at 6pm. You’ll also here from Molly Jarmon, Director of the Stepping Strong Injury Prevention Program.

Thank you once again for joining us on this mission and for being a voice of change for trauma survivors like our precious Gillian.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Audrey and Steven Reny and family
